ASTM B407 UNS N08810 Nickel alloy welded pipe for power generation

ASTM B407 UNS N08810 Nickel alloy welded pipe for power generation
ASTM B407 UNS NO8810 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy welded pipe used in power generation due to its high strength and excellent high-temperature corrosion resistance, including resistance to creep, rupture, oxidation, and chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking. This standard generally applies to seamless pipe, but welded pipe is also produced for various applications such as process piping, steam generators, and heat exchangers, particularly where operating temperatures exceed 593°C.
What are the ASTM specifications for INCOLOY 800?
This nickel-iron-chromium alloy maintains its austenitic microstructure even when exposed to high temperatures. According to ASTM B407, these pipes are annealed at 1800°F for 15 minutes. After annealing, Alloy 800 seamless pipe is air-cooled.

Welding and Fabrication
Welded Pipe: While ASTM B407 primarily covers seamless pipe, welded pipe is a common alternative.
Welding Techniques: Standard stainless steel methods can be used.
Performance Specifications
Temperature Range: Suitable for 800H/HT grade steel, operating temperatures up to 1100°F (593°C) are possible. Some grades, such as UNS N08811, are optimized for higher temperatures where creep and rupture resistance are required.
Mechanical Properties: Material is delivered in the annealed condition and must meet specific mechanical property requirements, such as tensile strength and yield strength, as specified in the standard.
Hydrostatic Testing: Welded pipe, like seamless pipe covered by this standard, must be hydrostatically tested to ensure it shows no signs of leakage.
