GH3044 Alloy Description

Gnee Alloy GH3044 High-Temperature Alloy Description
GH3044 (also known as GH44; historically corresponding to the Russian grades EI868 or KhN60VT) is a nickel-based (approx. 49%) wrought superalloy with a single-phase austenitic structure, primarily solid-solution strengthened by chromium (23.5%–26.5%) and tungsten (13.0%–16.0%). Its composition also includes molybdenum (≤1.50%), iron (≤4.0%), titanium (0.3%–0.7%), and carbon (≤0.10%), along with trace amounts of aluminum, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur.
Regarding its service temperature range, the alloy exhibits good structural stability and moderate thermal strength below 900°C, and maintains excellent oxidation resistance in highly oxidizing environments at 1000–1100°C. It also possesses outstanding stress-rupture strength, thermal fatigue resistance, and high ductility. The alloy is amenable to cold stamping and welding and is typically supplied in the solution-annealed condition (processed at approximately 1200°C) to ensure a single-phase austenitic microstructure with minimal carbide precipitation. Available product forms include plates, sheets, bars, wires, and seamless tubing.

Why Choose GH3044 Over GH3039/GH3128?
Industry-leading ultra-high-temperature oxidation resistance (core competitive advantage)
Field procurement data from over 350 global manufacturers shows that GH3044's oxidation resistance at 1000°C is 45% superior to that of GH3039, with a maximum oxidation resistance temperature of 1100°C. This effectively resolves issues faced by aviation MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) customers-such as rapid oxidation and short service life-when using medium-temperature alloys for stationary high-temperature furnace linings and combustion chamber liners.
Superior cold-stamping formability, ideal for complex, thin-walled liner components
GH3044 exhibits significantly better ductility in the solution-treated state compared to GH3128. Under identical complex flame tube forming processes, the stamping scrap rate is reduced by 38%, substantially cutting mass-production waste costs for customers.
A perfect balance of cost and performance for stationary high-temperature applications
For equipment operating stably at stationary temperatures of 800–900°C without frequent, severe thermal cycling, GH3044 offers a unit price 10–16% lower than GH3128. Combined with its vastly superior ultra-high-temperature oxidation resistance, this results in a 32% reduction in total lifecycle operation and maintenance costs.
Excellent weldability and low susceptibility to hot cracking
Compatible with standard TIG/MIG welding processes used in major global manufacturing facilities, requiring no special parameter adjustments. Thin-walled sheets can be welded without preheating, lowering the technical threshold for welding operations.
Requires only single-step solution heat treatment; no secondary aging needed
Unlike precipitation-hardening alloys (such as GH4169 or GH4090) that require two-stage aging, GH3044 requires only a single solution annealing treatment. This saves customers the cost of secondary heat treatment and shortens production cycles.

FAQ
Q1: What core advantage makes GH3044 different from GH3039 & GH3128? What is its long-term stable service temperature?
A: GH3044 is high Cr-W solid solution nickel alloy, equivalent to Russian ЭИ868. Its core competitiveness is ultra-high static high-temperature oxidation resistance, stable long-term service at 900℃, short-term peak oxidation resistance up to 1100℃; cold stamping plasticity is better than GH3128, cost lower than GH3128, but thermal cycle fatigue performance is inferior to GH3128, not recommended for parts with frequent large temperature fluctuations.
Long-term continuous safe anti-oxidation service temperature: ≤900℃
Short-term instantaneous peak oxidation tolerance: Up to 1100℃ It is single-phase solid-solution alloy, no aging heat treatment required, only single solution annealing can release its full anti-oxidation and forming performance.
Q2: What three core product forms of GH3044 can you supply? What standard sizes are in permanent stock?
A: We fully produce three mainstream finished forms for global export, all standard inventory sizes support fast MRO emergency delivery:
GH3044 Round Bar & Forged Billet Diameter Φ10mm~Φ500mm; random length 2000~5000mm, customizable fixed cutting length; surface options: black forged, peeled bright, centerless ground polished (h8/h9 tight tolerance)
GH3044 Cold Rolled Sheet & Hot Rolled Plate Thickness: Thin sheet 0.05~3.0mm; thick plate 4.0~12mm; standard width 1000/1219/1500mm, customizable slitting width; surface finishes: 2B, BA bright annealed, No.1 hot rolled pickled, sand blasted
GH3044 Seamless Cold Drawn Tube Outer diameter Φ10~320mm; wall thickness 0.5~25mm; surface: BA bright tube, AP pickled tube, 180~600 grit mirror polished tube We also provide secondary processing: laser cutting, precision peeling, tube end flanging/threading, blank forging per customer drawings.
Q3: Two melting grades of GH3044, what's the difference for export audit & total cost?
A: We offer two melting processes to match different customer budget and industry audit standards:
Industrial General Grade (Single VIM Vacuum Induction Melting) Suitable for ordinary industrial furnace, petrochemical non-critical static high-temperature parts, cost-saving option, basic UT ultrasonic inspection provided with shipment.
Aviation MRO Premium Grade (VIM+ESR Double Vacuum Melting) Mandatory for aero engine combustion liner core components. Eliminates element segregation, micro-shrinkage and harmful S/P impurities locked far below standard limits, attached with 100% UT+MT full NDT Class A internal flaw report, meets global aviation supplier audit requirements, complete dual-use material export documents & Russian ЭИ868 matching certification available for Russia, CIS, EU aerospace clients.
Q4: Which surface finish of GH3044 sheet is the most popular for global bulk export orders?
A: The 2B cold rolled annealed & pickled matte finish accounts for 78% of our overseas bulk GH3044 sheet orders. It balances procurement cost, ultra-high stamping ductility and excellent welding performance, the primary choice for mass production of aviation combustion liners and static furnace lining plates by global OEM manufacturers. Other special surface options for customized demands:
BA Bright Annealed Mirror Finish: High-cleanliness oxide-free surface for semiconductor thermal equipment & aerospace sealing thin sheets
No.1 Hot Rolled Pickled Plate: Only for heavy furnace lining plates over 4mm thickness, low surface precision demand
Sand Blasted Surface: Used as substrate for thermal barrier coating (TBC) on gas turbine hot-section components.
Q5: What impurity content limits do you strictly control for GH3044? Why this matters for customer combustion liner mass production?
A: Our factory locks all harmful impurity elements far below national standard upper limits for every batch: Sulfur ≤0.010%, Phosphorus ≤0.010%, Fe ≤2.5% (national standard upper limit Fe ≤4.0%). From 20 years of procurement on-site data verification: Many low-cost small factories raise Fe, S, P content to cut raw material cost, which directly leads to sheet cracking during complex liner stamping, premature oxidation peeling and shortened service life under 900℃ static high temperature. Every GH3044 shipment attaches full spectral composition test report for your factory audit.
