ASTM B167 UNS N06601 Bright annealed tubes for heat exchangers
ASTM B167 UNS N06601 bright annealed tubing, also known as Inconel 601, is a nickel-chromium alloy designed for high-temperature heat exchangers due to its excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion. Key properties include high strength, resistance to carburization, and good mechanical properties at high temperatures, making it suitable for harsh environments in industries such as petrochemicals and power generation. The bright annealing process is crucial, as it improves surface finish, relieves internal stresses, and enhances ductility while preventing scaling. This requires a carefully controlled furnace atmosphere (oxygen-free) and rapid heating and cooling times.

What is the difference between INCONEL 600 and INCONEL 601?
Inconel 600 and Inconel 601 are both very common high-temperature alloys. Both alloys offer excellent high-temperature performance. Inconel 601, however, has a higher chromium content than Inconel 600. Therefore, their primary difference lies in their oxidation resistance.

Inconel 601 pipe is a standard engineering material with excellent heat and corrosion resistance. It also offers high strength, good processability, excellent metallurgical stability, and resistance to carburization. Inconel 601 pipe is hardened and strengthened through a cold working process.
Inconel 601 seamless pipe is available in sizes up to 4 inches (NB). Larger sizes are welded (100% X-ray inspected) and can also be made to order. While Inconel 601 pipe is uncommon, it can be made to order. Regardless of size or quantity, we can provide redrawn pipe in virtually any size and to tight tolerances.

Bright Annealing Process
Purpose: To relieve internal stresses, improve ductility and formability, and refine the grain structure.
Environment: Performed in a controlled atmosphere to prevent oxidation, typically using gases such as dry hydrogen or argon.
Critical Factors: Proper annealing requires clean surfaces, an oxygen-free atmosphere, and precisely controlled heating and cooling rates to achieve the desired bright surface and prevent problems such as cracking or corrosion.
Heat Exchanger Applications
High-Temperature Applications: These tubings are designed for use with heat transfer fluids and gases at extreme pressures and temperatures.
Harsh Environments: They are suitable for chemical processing, power generation, and other industrial applications where corrosion resistance is critical.
Fluid/Gas Handling: These tubings are designed to resist deformation or separation when handling high-pressure fluids and gases.
Fabrication and Finishing
Available Shapes: Seamless and welded tubing is available in a variety of sizes and wall thicknesses.
Surface Treatment: Bright annealing is the standard finish, but other options include polished, mirror polished, and annealed/pickled.
End Types: Tube ends can be plain, beveled, or threaded to meet specific application requirements.

Gnee Steel specializes in the production of various nickel-based alloys. Gnee Steel's product packaging includes steel strapping: Pipes with an outer diameter of 3 inches or less are typically strapped together with polypropylene film to prevent rust during sea transportation, and then secured with steel strapping. Wooden boxes/crates: Pipes are typically packaged in wooden boxes or crates to protect them during transportation, especially those that are longer or have larger diameters. Seaworthy export packaging: Suppliers typically use standard seaworthy export packaging methods, which may include a variety of materials and techniques to protect the pipes during transportation. Tarpaulin packaging: This prevents rainwater, seawater, and other external factors from penetrating the export wooden crates during transportation. Gnee Steel specializes in the production and sale of alloy materials. Gnee Steel's products are widely used in aerospace, chemical, power, automotive, nuclear, and other industries, and we can provide customized alloy material solutions based on customer needs.
