Incoloy 945 is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant alloy designed for demanding applications in the oil and gas industry. Contents of molybdenum, copper, niobium, titanium and aluminum enhance the properties of this age-hardenable nickel-iron-chromium alloy. The nickel content in the alloy resists stress corrosion cracking caused by chlorides. The combination of nickel with molybdenum and copper also gives Alloy 945 excellent resistance to general corrosion in reducing media. Molybdenum also resists localized corrosion (pitting and crevice corrosion). The chromium content in the alloy makes it resistant to oxidizing environments. Niobium, titanium and aluminum are involved in the age hardening reaction that occurs during heat treatment. Their interaction forms precipitates of gamma and gamma bis, which strengthen the alloy.
