What are the differences between Hastelloy B2 and B3 fasteners?
Hastelloy B2 and B3 fasteners have similar resistance to reducing acids such as hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, but B3 fasteners have better processing characteristics and higher thermal stability, making them more resistant to knife-line corrosion and heat-affected zone corrosion. B3 fasteners are also less prone to problems during use, manufacturing, and welding than B2 fasteners. However, neither B2 nor B3 fasteners are recommended for use with iron or copper salts.

What are Hastelloy B3 fasteners?
Hastelloy B-3 fasteners are a nickel-molybdenum alloy that offers excellent resistance to pitting, corrosion and stress corrosion cracking, and better thermal stability than Alloy B-2 fasteners. In addition, this nickel-steel alloy offers excellent resistance to tool marks and heat-affected zone corrosion.
