Mechanical properties (annealed):
Monel 400 (2.4360) has excellent corrosion resistance to neutral and alkaline salt solutions. It is one of the few metal materials that can come into contact with fluorine, hydrofluoric acid or their derivatives. It has long been the standard material for salt treatment plants. Monel 400 maintains good mechanical properties at temperatures below 550°C and is not susceptible to stress corrosion cracking caused by chlorine.

Typical Applications:
Monel 400 is a single-phase nickel-copper alloy that has excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of environments. Typical applications include: propeller and pump shafts in seawater service, industrial heat exchangers, brine heaters and evaporator shells in desalination plants, feedwater and steam generator piping in power plants, uranium refining and isotope separation facilities in nuclear fuel production, sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid neutralization facilities, deep sea salvage covers, oil drilling cover pipes.
