Learn about Inconel 718 alloy round bar

Inconel 718 round bar (or Alloy 718) is an age-hardenable nickel-chromium superalloy bar valued for its high tensile, fatigue, fracture, and creep strengths up to 1300°F (704°C), as well as its oxidation resistance up to 1800°F (982°C). It also offers excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability due to its low carbon content, and exceptional performance at low temperatures. Inconel 718 round bar is widely used in demanding applications such as aerospace fasteners, aircraft components, and chemical processing.

Key Properties of Inconel 718 Alloy Rod

High Strength: Inconel 718 alloy rod exhibits exceptional strength, including tensile, fatigue, and creep-rupture strength, maintaining excellent strength at elevated temperatures up to approximately 650°C (1200°F).

Excellent Corrosion Resistance: It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance even in harsh environments, particularly in high-temperature oxidation, carburizing, seawater, and sour gas environments.

Age Hardenability: The alloy can be heat-treated (age-hardened) to achieve excellent mechanical properties.

Fabrication: Due to its relatively low carbon content, it is easily fabricated and exhibits good weldability.

Typical Applications of 718 Alloy Rod

Oil and Gas: Wellhead components, downhole components, fasteners, packers, and tubing hangers for corrosive environments.

Aerospace: High-temperature bolts, fasteners, and components for jet engines and high-speed aircraft fuselages.

Chemical Process Industries: Components for gas scrubbers, acid handling equipment, and pulp and paper processing.

Others: cryogenic tanks, rocket fuel bottles, seawater cooling equipment.

About Gnee Steel

Gnee Steel specializes in the production of various nickel-based alloys. Gnee Steel's product packaging includes steel strapping: Pipes with an outer diameter of 3 inches or less are typically strapped together with polypropylene film to prevent rust during sea transportation, and then secured with steel strapping. Wooden boxes/crates: Pipes are typically packaged in wooden boxes or crates to protect them during transportation, especially those that are longer or have larger diameters. Seaworthy export packaging: Suppliers typically use standard seaworthy export packaging methods, which may include a variety of materials and techniques to protect the pipes during transportation. Tarpaulin packaging: This prevents rainwater, seawater, and other external factors from penetrating the export wooden crates during transportation. Gnee Steel specializes in the production and sale of alloy materials. Gnee Steel's products are widely used in aerospace, chemical, power, automotive, and nuclear energy industries, and we can provide customized alloy material solutions based on customer needs.
