ASTM B166 UNS N06600/Inconel 600/Nickel 600 Bright Nickel Alloy Round Bar

ASTM B166 UNS N06600 Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy presented in bright nickel alloy round bar form. It offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and good oxidation resistance, even at elevated temperatures (approximately 2000°F or 1100°C). These bars are widely used in industries such as chemical processing, nuclear power plants, heat treatment furnaces, and jet engines due to their ability to withstand corrosive environments and extreme temperatures. Their "bright" finish is the result of a cold-drawing and polishing process, resulting in a smooth, polished surface.

What is Nickel Alloy 600?

Nickel Alloy 600 is a nickel-chromium-iron solid solution-strengthened alloy suitable for applications requiring corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance. Nickel Alloy 600 has a service temperature range from cryogenic to 1200°C. The alloy also exhibits good machinability, weldability, and high strength.

Applications
Chemical Processing: Bubble columns, fatty acid condensers, and equipment for handling rosin acid.
Nuclear Energy Applications: Nuclear power plants and reactors.
High-Temperature Environments: Heat-treating furnaces, gas turbine components, and jet engine parts.
Other Industries: Electronic components, marine applications, and general repair and assembly.

What does "Bright Nickel Alloy Bar" mean?
Bright Finish: Bars have a polished "bright" surface achieved through a cold drawing and polishing process that reduces surface roughness.
Bars: Bars have a round cross-section.
Nickel Alloy: The primary element of the alloy is nickel, which imparts its excellent properties.
ASTM B166: This is the ASTM standard that specifies the requirements for nickel-chromium-iron alloy bar.
UNS N06600: This is the Unified Numbering System designation for Inconel alloy 600.
