ASTM B165 Monel 400 seamless nickel alloy marine pipe

ASTM B165 Monel 400 seamless nickel alloy marine pipe
ASTM B165 specifies cold-finished seamless tubing made from Monel 400 (UNS N04400). Monel 400 tubing is a nickel-copper alloy highly regarded in marine applications for its excellent resistance to seawater, steam, and saline solutions. Monel 400 alloy tubing offers excellent mechanical properties, especially at elevated and subzero temperatures. Combined with excellent corrosion resistance and good weldability, it's an ideal choice for shipbuilding, propeller shafts, and other marine equipment.
What's the difference between Hastelloy C276 and Monel 400?
The difference is that Monel 400's corrosion resistance comes from its copper content, while Hastelloy C-276's corrosion resistance comes from its chromium and molybdenum content. Both copper and chromium are antioxidants. However, copper's antioxidant properties break down at high temperatures.
