Alloy 2.4602 Hastelloy C22 Hastelloy C276 Nickel Seamless Piping

What are the corrosion resistance properties of Alloy C22?
Alloy C22 is one of the most corrosion-resistant alloys available, even outperforming C276 and 625. It is resistant to almost all reducing and oxidizing environments, including strong oxidizers, seawater, and organic acids. Additionally, it has excellent resistance to chloride-induced localized corrosion, such as pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.

How does Alloy C22 perform in terms of oxidation resistance?

Alloy C22 has excellent resistance to oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation at elevated temperatures. However, it should not be used at temperatures above 1250°F (677°C) due to the possible formation of embrittling phases.

What are the mechanical properties of Alloy C22?
Alloy C22 is typically provided in the annealed condition with a minimum yield strength of 45 ksi (kilopounds per square inch). It can also be cold worked to achieve higher strength levels.

What is the typical heat treatment process for Alloy C22?
Alloy C22 is typically annealed at 2050°F (1121°C), followed by rapid cooling.

How workable is Alloy C22, and what are the considerations for working with it?

Alloy C22 can be both hot worked and cold worked. However, it work-hardens rapidly, so cold working often needs to be performed in stages with intervening anneals. After cold working, parts should be annealed to restore their ductility and ensure optimal performance.
