Equivalent materials for Incoloy 800HT

800HT alloy/Incoloy 800HT is a compositionally controlled derivative alloy of INCOLOY 800H alloy (UNS N08810), used in the same creep-resistant applications. However, the combined effects of its mechanical processing and heat treatment allow it to withstand higher design stresses than conventional alloys.

What are the specifications of Incoloy 800?

800/800AT/800H Alloy Technical Specifications

800H alloy is a controlled-carbon version of the 800 alloy with solution heat treatment (2100°F/1150°C), offering improved high-temperature performance. It exhibits enhanced creep and stress rupture properties in the temperature range of 1100°F (593°C) to 1800°F (982°C).

Incoloy 800

For Incoloy 800HT (UNS N08811), equivalent materials include the closely related Incoloy 800H (N08810) and Alloy 800 (N08800), with 800HT being a more strictly controlled version exhibiting better high-temperature strength. In addition, there are the German standard WERKSTOFF 1.4859 (or 1.4876) and the Japanese standard JIS NCF 800HT, both having similar nickel-chromium-iron compositions but differing in carbon/aluminum/titanium content to meet specific creep resistance requirements. The main ASTM standards for 800HT include B407, B408, B409, B366 (fittings), and B564 (forgings), and equivalent standards can usually be found in the 800H/800 standards.

Main Corresponding Grades
UNS N08811 (Incoloy 800HT)
UNS N08810 (Incoloy 800H) – Very similar, slightly lower Ti/Al content
UNS N08800 (Alloy 800) – Basic alloy
DIN/WERKSTOFF: 1.4859 (800HT), 1.4876 (Alloy 800/800H)
JIS: NCF 800HT, NCF 800H
BS: NA 15(HT)

ASTM Specifications (depending on product form)
Seamless pipe: B407
Bar: B408
Plate/Sheet: B409
Fittings: B366
Forgings: B564 (specific to 800HT/800H)

Main Differences and Considerations
Control: 800HT has stricter control over the content of C, Al, and Ti (Al+Ti content is approximately 1%), therefore it has superior creep strength and high-temperature stability compared to 800H and 800.
Dual Certification: 800H/HT alloys are often dual certified, meaning a single product can meet the requirements of both specifications.
Applications: Choose the grade that meets the required creep strength for your high-temperature application; for the most demanding environments, 800HT is usually preferred.
