Inconel Steel ASTM B168 600 Medium Plate
Inconel 718 polished plate manufactured to ASTM B670 is a premium nickel-chromium alloy plate with excellent mechanical properties and surface finish. Its material composition (Ni 50-55%, Chromium 17-21%, Niobium + Tantalum 4.75-5.5%) allows it to maintain excellent strength at high temperatures (up to 700°C/1300°F) while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance in oxidizing and reducing environments. Through precision cold rolling and mechanical polishing processes, these plates achieve an excellent surface finish (typically Ra ≤ 0.4μm), which improves aesthetics and functional performance by minimizing friction and particle adhesion. The plates are solution annealed (955-1010°C) and then double aged (718°C + 621°C) to obtain the best mechanical properties (typically tensile strength ≥ 1350 MPa, yield strength ≥ 1100 MPa). This combination of properties makes ASTM B670 Inconel 718 polished plate particularly suitable for critical aerospace components (engine cases, thrust reversers), high-performance chemical processing equipment (reactor vessels, heat exchangers), and medical implant manufacturing, where surface integrity and material reliability are critical. The polished surface also provides improved resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments compared to standard mill surfaces.
