4130 Cold-Rolled Chromoly Steel Tube is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel tube that is precisely formed by cold rolling process, and has significantly better dimensional accuracy and surface quality than hot-rolled tubes. The tube is made of 4130 chromium-molybdenum steel (C 0.28-0.33%, Cr 0.8-1.1%, Mo 0.15-0.25%) as raw material. After multiple cold rolling deformation and precise heat treatment, it can obtain a finer grain structure and better comprehensive mechanical properties. The cold rolling process allows the outer diameter tolerance of the tube to be controlled within ±0.05mm, the wall thickness tolerance is ±0.02mm, and the inner surface roughness Ra≤0.4μm, which fully meets the use requirements of high-precision hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

In terms of mechanical properties, after proper quenching and tempering, the tensile strength of 4130 cold-rolled tube can reach 700-850MPa, the yield strength 500-650MPa, and the elongation of 12-15%. Its strength-plasticity matching is significantly better than that of hot-rolled state. The work hardening effect brought by cold working can make the material hardness reach HRC 30-35, which is particularly suitable for moving parts that require wear resistance. In addition, cold-rolled tubes have more uniform wall thickness distribution and smaller residual stress, and show better fatigue resistance when subjected to alternating loads. The fatigue limit is about 15-20% higher than that of hot-rolled tubes.

4130 cold-rolled tubes are widely used in precision instruments, high-end hydraulic cylinders, racing drive shafts, aviation actuators and other fields that require extremely high dimensional accuracy and performance stability. Its typical specifications range from outer diameter 5-200mm and wall thickness 0.5-10mm. It can provide a variety of heat treatment states such as annealing, normalizing or quenching and tempering according to demand. It should be noted that special attention should be paid to heat input control during subsequent welding of cold rolled tubes, and stress relief annealing is recommended to eliminate the effects of cold work hardening. With its excellent dimensional accuracy, surface quality and performance consistency, 4130 cold rolled tubes have become an irreplaceable key material in the field of precision machinery manufacturing.

FAQ

1. What is AISI 4130?

AISI 4130 is a chromoly steel, also known as chrome moly steel. It's a medium-carbon, low-alloy steel popular for its balance of strength, toughness, and machinability.
2. Is chrome-molybdenum steel better than steel?
What distinguishes chrome-molybdenum steel from other types of steel is its higher tensile strength. This means it can withstand greater forces without breaking or deforming. It also has better corrosion resistance, making it ideal for applications exposed to harsh environments or moisture.
3. Will 4130 chrome-molybdenum steel rust?
Both 4140 and 4130 steels are low-alloy steels that have excellent strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance.
4. Is 4130 a carbon steel?
4130 carbon steel is a low-carbon steel with a carbon content of approximately 0.3%. 4130 is also an alloy steel with chromium and molybdenum as strengthening agents. This steel is easy to weld and can be heat treated more easily than other mild steels.
