Among other advantages, zirconium Zr702 is resistant to almost all organic and inorganic acids and alkaline solutions. Zirconium 702 is suitable for welding and is fully recyclable. It is also very malleable at low temperatures.
Zirconium 702 (Zr702) is a commercially pure form of zirconium. Zr702 has the best corrosion resistance than Z704 and Zr705, but has the lowest tensile strength. It exhibits good ductility even at low temperatures and has good strength comparable to other common engineering alloys. Zirconium is a reactive metal with a high affinity for oxygen and can form a protective passivating oxide film in air at room temperature. This passivation film gives zirconium alloy excellent corrosion resistance.
