Product Introduction
Zirconium alloy has good corrosion resistance, moderate mechanical properties, low atomic thermal neutron absorption cross section (0.18 target for zirconium) and good compatibility with fuel in high temperature and high pressure water and steam at 300~400 ºC. Therefore, it can be used as core structural materials (fuel cladding, pressure pipe, support and duct pipe) of water-cooled reactors, which is the main use of zirconium alloy.
Zirconium has excellent corrosion resistance to various acids (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and acetic acid), bases, and salts, so zirconium alloys are also used to make corrosion-resistant components and pharmaceutical devices. Zirconium has a strong affinity for gases such as oxygen and atmosphere, so zirconium and zirconium alloys are also widely used as non evaporable getters in the Shenzhikong and light bulb industries. Zirconium has excellent luminescent properties, making it a material for trapping light and fireworks.
Zirconium and zirconium alloys have good plasticity and can be made into pipes, plates, bars, and wires, with pipes being the main product. The processing technology of zirconium and zirconium alloys depends on the nature of dry zirconium and the special requirements of reactors for zirconium components. The basic properties of zirconium are: easy to be contaminated by oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, etc., easy to stick to the mold, and has isomorphic transformation.
Zirconium and zirconium alloys have good fusion welding performance. The commonly used welding methods include tungsten xenon arc welding and electron beam welding.
