What is the difference between INCOLOY 825 and 316 SS?

INCOLOY 825 and SS316 are both excellent stainless steel alloys with unique properties and applications. INCOLOY 825 has excellent corrosion resistance, especially in reducing environments, while SS316 has excellent corrosion resistance in marine and chemical environments.

Will SS 316 rust?

316 stainless steel is more corrosion resistant than 304 and other similar materials. It is even resistant to corrosion from some very harsh chemicals. This allows it to be used in highly acidic or corrosive environments that would attack other metals.

WHAT ARE INCOLOY 825 MATERIAL GRADE?

Alloy 825 (N08825) is an alloy in the Nickel-Chromium-Iron-Molybdenum (Ni-Cr-Fe-Mo) family, developed in the 1950s. It has a nominal content of 42% nickel, 32% iron, 22% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 2% copper, and is stabilized by the addition of 0.8% titanium, which gives it excellent resistance to sulfuric and phosphoric acids.

Is Inconel 825 alloy magnetic?

Inconel 825 is not generally magnetic. The alloy is a blend of nickel, iron, and chromium with added molybdenum, copper, and titanium, which enhance its overall corrosion resistance and maintain its non-magnetic properties.

1. Chemical Composition:

SS316 is a molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel alloy that belongs to the 300 series of stainless steels. It is primarily composed of iron, chromium, nickel and molybdenum, with small amounts of other elements such as carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus and sulfur added.

825 Alloy Pipe, also known as Incoloy 825 UNS N08825, is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy. It contains a large amount of nickel (38-46%), chromium (19.5-23.5%), iron (22-26%), and small amounts of molybdenum (2.5-3.5%), copper (1.5-3%), and titanium (0.6-1.2%). This alloy is extremely corrosion resistant and is especially suitable for harsh environments.

2. Corrosion Resistance:

SUS 316: SUS 316 has excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for a variety of applications including marine environments and chemical processing.

Incoloy 825: Incoloy 825 alloy is known for its excellent resistance to a variety of corrosive media, including sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and chloride-containing solutions. It is often used in extremely corrosive environments such as chemical processing and oil and gas industry applications.

3. Temperature Resistance:

AISI 316: DIN 1.4401 has good high temperature properties and can operate up to approximately 870°C (1600°F). It maintains its corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures.

Alloy 825: 2.4858 Alloy 825 is designed for high temperature applications and can withstand temperatures up to approximately 540°C (1000°F) while maintaining its corrosion resistance.
