What is the composition of Monel 401?

Monel is a solid solution alloy that can be hardened by cold working. MONEL alloys are available in different types namely MONEL 400, 401, 404, R-405, 450 and K-500. Standard forms of Monel are hexagonal, flat, forgings, tubes and tubes.
MONEL 401 is designed for special electrical and electronic applications. Common forms of MONEL 401 alloy are strip and wire. This datasheet discusses the chemical composition, properties and applications of MONEL 401 alloy.

Alloy 401 autogenously welds easily into thin sheets. Gas tungsten arc welding is a commonly used process. Resistance welding is a satisfactory method for this alloy.
Thermal processing
If necessary, thermal processing can be performed.
Cold working
Cold working can be done using standard tooling and soft mold materials for a better finish.
annealing
MONEL 401 alloy should be annealed at 760°C (1400°F) for one hour to recover from cold working.
