Grade 316 stainless steel is an austenitic grade of corrosion-resistant steel with excellent strength, toughness, manufacturing characteristics and weldability.

Typical applications: Brewing and dairy equipment, evaporators, drums, barrels, heat exchangers, chemical and food processing, water treatment plants, chemical processing equipment, construction and marine fittings exposed to marine and polluted atmospheres.

Grade 316 is a member of the 18/8 Chromium Nickel family of austenitic stainless steels with 2% added molybdenum to improve corrosion resistance, particularly localized corrosion in chloride-containing environments. The very tough and ductile austenitic structure gives Grade 316 excellent formability and manufacturing characteristics.

In most applications, steel's corrosion-resistant properties provide long-lasting service life and appearance. Steel is easy to clean and maintains a hygienic surface, making it ideal for a variety of uses.
