1. Composition:
- Monel 400 alloy is mainly composed of nickel and copper, containing about 67% nickel and about 23% copper. In addition, it also contains a small amount of iron, manganese, silicon and carbon.
- Inconel 600 alloy is mainly composed of nickel and chromium, containing about 76% nickel and about 15% chromium. In addition, it also contains some iron, carbon and a small amount of other elements such as titanium, aluminum and copper.
2. Corrosion resistance:
- Monel 400 alloy has good corrosion resistance and has high resistance to seawater, salt water, acidic and alkaline media. It corrodes slowly in acidic environments, but is susceptible to corrosion under strong alkaline conditions.
- Inconel 600 alloy has a wide range of corrosion resistance and has excellent corrosion resistance to a variety of media such as acids, alkalis, salts and oxides. It has better corrosion resistance at high temperatures and is suitable for acidic and alkaline environments.
3. Strength and mechanical properties:
- Monel 400 alloy has high strength and good plasticity, but its strength is relatively low. It has good toughness and ductility and is suitable for low and high temperature environments.
- Inconel 600 alloy has high strength and hardness and excellent mechanical properties. It maintains good strength and deformation resistance at high temperatures and is suitable for high temperature and high stress environments.
4. Welding performance:
- Monel 400 alloy has good weldability and can be connected by conventional welding methods such as TIG welding, MIG welding and arc welding.
- Inconel 600 alloy needs to be noted during welding. Due to its nickel-chromium alloy characteristics, it is easy to form hot cracks in the welding area. Therefore, appropriate welding process and preheating measures are needed to ensure welding quality.
5. Application fields:
- Monel 400 alloy is often used in the manufacture of pipelines, containers and equipment in the fields of marine engineering, chemical engineering, petrochemicals and seawater desalination.
- Inconel 600 alloy is widely used in high temperature furnaces, petrochemicals, nuclear engineering, aerospace and chemical processing, and is especially suitable for equipment manufacturing in high temperature and corrosive environments.
6. Price:
- Monel 400 alloy is relatively economical and has a relatively low price.
- Inconel 600 alloy is more expensive, mainly due to its higher nickel and chromium content.
