What are the differences between Inconel 600/625 alloy sheets?

The main difference between Inconel 600 and 625 plates lies in their composition, which results in significantly different performance characteristics: Inconel 625 (N06625) contains higher levels of chromium, molybdenum, and niobium, giving it excellent corrosion resistance (especially in marine/acidic environments) and strength, making it ideal for demanding chemical/aerospace applications; Inconel 600 (N0600) contains higher levels of nickel, lower levels of chromium, and no molybdenum, thus offering good high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance, making it suitable for furnace components and heat exchangers, and more economical in applications where corrosion requirements are less stringent.

Can Inconel 625 be hardened?

We measured the hardness of the nickel-based superalloy Inconel 625 after aging at 625, 700, and 760°C for 1 to 335 hours. The results show that peak hardening occurs much earlier at 760°C than at 700°C. Furthermore, the peak hardness at 700°C is also higher than that at 760°C.

Inconel 625

Inconel 600 sheet metal is a plate material rolled from a high-performance nickel-chromium-iron alloy (Inconel 600), renowned for its excellent strength retention at temperatures up to approximately 1150°C, as well as its superior resistance to oxidation and chloride stress corrosion cracking. It is specifically designed for manufacturing linings, heat exchanger components, furnace structures, and reaction vessels for equipment requiring tolerance to extreme high temperatures and corrosive environments. It is a critical basic material in chemical, nuclear power, heat treatment, and aerospace industries, handling harsh conditions with performance far exceeding that of ordinary stainless steel, but its cost and processing difficulty are correspondingly higher.

Inconel 625 sheet metal is a nickel-chromium-based superalloy sheet metal strengthened with molybdenum and niobium. Its core value lies in its comprehensive and superior corrosion resistance, effectively resisting pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, chloride stress corrosion cracking, and oxidizing and reducing acid media, while also possessing excellent high-temperature strength (to approximately 980°C) and creep resistance. It provides reliable solutions for applications such as marine engineering, harsh chemicals, flue gas desulfurization systems, and aerospace, where sheet metal is required as structural components, containers, or liners in extreme corrosive and high-temperature environments. It is a top-tier engineering material with overall performance superior to Inconel 600 sheet metal.

Toughness: 625 steel plate is tougher and has better ductility.

Inconel 600 and Inconel 625 Plate Corrosion Resistance

600 Plate: Good, but limited performance in corrosive media.

625 Plate: Due to its molybdenum/niobium content, it exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of corrosive media, including seawater, acidic (such as oxalic acid), and chloride environments.
