The differences between Inconel 600 plates and Alloy 601 plates

The differences between Inconel 600 plates and Alloy 601 plates
Inconel 600 alloy plates offer broad corrosion resistance and good weldability, while Inconel 601 plates, with the addition of aluminum, exhibit superior high-temperature oxidation resistance, better resistance to carburization/sulfidation, and higher high-temperature strength. Therefore, 601 thick plates are ideal for furnace components and thermal cycling applications, while 600 plates are suitable for general chemical processing and marine environments, especially where chloride stress corrosion cracking is a concern.
Is Inconel 601 magnetic?
Inconel 601 sheet is a non-magnetic nickel-chromium alloy with properties including high-temperature strength comparable to 18-8 alloys and high corrosion resistance to organic and inorganic corrosive agents. Inconel 601 sheet performs exceptionally well in temperatures ranging from cryogenic temperatures to 2000°F.

Inconel 600 plate is a sheet material rolled from a high-performance nickel-chromium-iron alloy (Inconel 600), renowned for its excellent strength retention at temperatures up to approximately 1150°C, and its superior resistance to oxidation and chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. It is specifically used in the manufacture of equipment linings, heat exchanger components, furnace structures, and reaction vessels that require resistance to extreme high temperatures and corrosive environments. It is a critical basic material for demanding applications in chemical, nuclear power, heat treatment, and aerospace industries, offering performance far superior to ordinary stainless steel, but at a correspondingly higher cost and with greater processing difficulty.
Inconel 601 plate is a sheet material rolled from a nickel-chromium-iron-aluminum strengthened alloy (Inconel 601). Its core characteristic is its unparalleled resistance to oxidation, carburization, and high-temperature sulfidation at extremely high temperatures up to approximately 1250°C, while maintaining good formability and weldability. It is designed for demanding environments where sheet materials are exposed to severe oxidizing-reducing atmospheres and thermal cycling, such as high-temperature heat treatment furnaces, industrial combustion systems, petrochemical cracking units, and aerospace hot-end components. It is a key material for manufacturing ultra-high-temperature components such as furnace linings, radiant tubes, and high-temperature fixtures.
