Detailed information on Inconel 601/625 alloy sheets
Inconel 601/625 alloy plates are high-performance nickel-based superalloys known for their exceptional strength, high-temperature resistance, and excellent corrosion resistance. In particular, the 625 alloy, due to its molybdenum and niobium content, exhibits outstanding resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking, making it ideal for aerospace, chemical, and marine applications. However, these alloys are expensive and difficult to process.
What are the characteristics of Inconel 625 alloy?
Inconel 625 is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium alloy known for its high strength at extreme temperatures (from cryogenic to 1800°F) and excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking, as well as good machinability. These characteristics make it an ideal material for applications in marine, aerospace, and chemical industries. Key elements in the alloy include molybdenum and niobium, which contribute to its strength. Its properties include a density of 8.44 g/cm³, high tensile strength (e.g., approximately 880 MPa at room temperature), and good elongation. Its strength primarily derives from solid solution strengthening, rather than heat treatment.

Inconel 601 plate is a sheet material rolled from a nickel-chromium-iron-aluminum reinforced alloy (Inconel 601). Its core characteristic is its unparalleled resistance to oxidation, carburization, and high-temperature sulfur corrosion at extreme temperatures up to approximately 1250°C, while maintaining good formability and weldability. It is designed for demanding environments where sheet materials are exposed to severe oxidizing-reducing atmospheres and thermal cycling, such as high-temperature heat treatment furnaces, industrial combustion systems, petrochemical cracking units, and aerospace hot-end components. It is a key material for manufacturing ultra-high-temperature components such as furnace linings, radiant tubes, and high-temperature fixtures.
Inconel 625 plate is a nickel-chromium-based high-temperature alloy plate reinforced with molybdenum and niobium. Its core value lies in its comprehensive and superior corrosion resistance, effectively resisting pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, chloride stress corrosion cracking, and oxidizing and reducing acid media, while also possessing excellent high-temperature strength (up to approximately 980°C) and creep resistance. It provides reliable solutions for applications in marine engineering, demanding chemical processing, flue gas desulfurization systems, and aerospace, where sheet materials are required as structural components, containers, or linings in extreme corrosive and high-temperature environments. It is a top-tier engineering material with superior overall performance compared to Inconel 600 plate.

Main Differences and Comparison between Inconel 601 Plate and Alloy 625 Plate
Oxidation Resistance: 601 plate generally performs better at extremely high temperatures; 625 plate offers excellent performance, but may have limitations around 1800°F (982°C).
Strength: 625 plate is generally stronger, especially in terms of creep resistance.
Corrosion Resistance: 625 plate offers superior broad-spectrum corrosion resistance (acid and seawater resistance).
Cost/Machinability: 625 plate is typically more expensive and more difficult to machine.
