The differences between Inconel 600/601 plates and sheets

The differences between Inconel 600/601 plates and sheets
Both Inconel 600 and 601 alloy plates are nickel-chromium alloy plates, but Inconel 601 plates contain added aluminum (1.0-1.7%), giving them significantly superior high-temperature oxidation resistance, making them ideal for furnace components. Inconel 600 plates, on the other hand, have a wider range of applications, such as excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking and good weldability, making them suitable for applications in chemical and marine environments and other non-extreme high-temperature applications. Due to its higher chromium and aluminum content, Inconel 601 sheet metal can better withstand higher temperatures (up to 2100°F) because it forms a protective oxide layer; while Inconel 600 plates, despite having a lower chromium content (14-17% compared to 22-26% in 601), perform excellently in aqueous/chloride environments.
What are the differences between Inconel 600 and 718?
Inconel 600 excels in high-temperature oxidation resistance (e.g., for furnace components) and possesses good moderate corrosion resistance; while Inconel 718 is a leader in strength, providing superior tensile strength, fatigue strength, and creep strength for demanding aerospace (jet engines) and oil and gas (downhole tools) applications due to its precipitation hardening characteristics. The main difference is that 600 series alloys are well-suited for heat-resistant/oxidation-resistant applications, while 718 series alloys offer higher strength and are ideal for high-stress, load-bearing applications, thanks to their unique composition (nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium) and age-hardening process.

Gnee Steel is a manufacturer, supplier, and exporter of Inconel 600/601 plates. We use high-quality raw materials to ensure our products are durable and meet the highest industry standards. Inconel 600 plate is a nickel-chromium alloy suitable for temperatures ranging from cryogenic to as high as 2000°F (1093°C). Inconel 601 plate is commonly used in high-temperature static applications. ASTM B166 Inconel 601 plate is a nickel-chromium alloy with excellent oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1204°C. ASTM B167 Alloy 601 plate is a nickel-chromium alloy with added aluminum, offering excellent oxidation resistance and resistance to other forms of high-temperature corrosion.
This product is also currently used in high-temperature applications under the designation UNS N06601 sheet. We manufacture Inconel products according to international and national quality standards. Every year, we produce tons of Inconel products to meet the needs of numerous industries worldwide. We source the raw materials for our Inconel Alloy 601 plates from reputable and trusted suppliers. The presence of nickel in Inconel Alloy 601 plates gives it good corrosion resistance even at extremely high temperatures. Furthermore, our Inconel Alloy 601 thick plates and Alloy 601 hot-rolled plates resist oxidation at extreme temperatures up to approximately 2200°F.
