Alloy 400 (UNS designation N04400) is a nickel-copper solid solution alloy with small amounts of manganese, silicon, and iron added to increase the grade's strength and corrosion resistance. It exhibits high strength over a wide temperature range.

Alloy 400 (Monel 400) is published as NA13 to British Standard BS3076 and as UNS N04400 to American Standard ASTM B164.
Corrosion Resistance
Alloy 400 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance to hydrofluoric acid and many reducing media, and it outperforms high copper alloys in oxidizing media. It is one of the few alloys that can be used in contact with fluorine and hydrogen fluoride. Alloy 400 is highly resistant to many forms of sulfuric and hydrochloric acids and alkalis under reducing conditions. Alloy 400 also resists stress corrosion cracking and pitting in most fresh and industrial waters, and has excellent corrosion resistance in flowing seawater, making it widely used in chemical and marine engineering applications.
