Is alloy 800 stainless steel?
N08800 stainless steel is a superaustenitic (high alloy) stainless steel formulated for primary forming of wrought products. N08800 is the material's UNS number. Alloy 800 is its common industry designation. Additionally, the British Standard (BS) designation is NA15. The French National Institute of Standards (AFNOR) designation is 25NC35-20.

This material is widely recognized: the "Further Reading" section below references several published standards, but the list is not exhaustive.
It has the highest tensile strength of the wrought superaustenitic stainless steels. It also has the lowest ductility and a relatively low base cost.
The properties of N08800 stainless steel include four common variants. This page shows summary ranges for all variants. For more specific values, click on the links below. The chart bars on the material property card below compare N08800 stainless steel to the following materials: wrought superaustenitic stainless steels (top), all ferrous alloys (middle), and the entire database (bottom). A full bar means this is the highest value in the associated set. A half-full bar means this is 50% of the highest value, and so on.
