High-temperature alloy heat treatment GH3030 GH30 product various standards
GH3030 is a high-temperature nickel-based superalloy that requires solution heat treatment and can have its strength improved through aging. Its heat treatment involves heating to a specific temperature, holding for a certain time, and then cooling to obtain a stable single-crystal austenitic structure. Its specifications are typically defined by various standards, such as ASTM B168 (for sheet metal) or the Chinese standard GB/T 14992.
What are high-temperature alloys?
High-temperature alloys, also known as superalloys, are metallic materials specifically designed to maintain strength and stability at extreme temperatures. They typically use nickel, cobalt, or iron as a base material and add elements such as chromium, aluminum, and molybdenum to enhance their heat resistance, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance. These alloys are crucial for high-stress applications in industries such as aerospace, power generation, and chemicals.

GH3030 (GH30) Solid Solution Strengthened Wrought Superalloy
GH3030 Properties and Applications Overview:
This alloy is an early-developed 80Ni-20Cr solid solution strengthened superalloy. It has a simple chemical composition, satisfactory high-temperature strength and high plasticity below 800℃, and good resistance to oxidation, thermal fatigue, cold stamping, and welding. After solution treatment, the alloy is a single-phase austenitic alloy with stable microstructure during use. It is mainly used for turbine engine combustion chamber components operating below 800℃ and other high-temperature components requiring oxidation resistance but bearing relatively low loads below 1100℃.

GH3030 Heat Treatment Regime
The standard heat treatment regimes for each product type are as follows:
a) Cold-rolled sheet: (980~1020)℃/AC, where δ≤3mm, holding for (8~12) min; δ3mm~5mm, holding for (12~16) min;
b) Wire: (980~1020)℃/WQ or AC, where d≤3mm, holding for (8~12) min; d3mm~5mm, holding for (12~16) min;
c) Pipe: (980~1020)℃/WQ;
d) Cold-drawn bar: (980~1000)℃/WQ or AC;
e) Forgings: (990~1010)℃ x (2~3) h/AC;
f) Welded parts: (990~1020)℃/AC, where δ(d) ≤3mm, keep warm for (8~12)min; δ(d)3mm~5mm, keep warm for (12~16)min.
GH3030 Processing Performance and Requirements:
1. This alloy has good forgeability, with a forging heating temperature of 1180℃ and a final forging temperature of 900℃.
2. The average grain size of this alloy is closely related to the degree of deformation of the forging and the final forging temperature.
3. After heat treatment, the oxide scale on the surface of the parts can be removed by sandblasting or pickling.
