High-hardness hot-extruded GH4169 die steel pipe
High-hardness hot-extruded GH4169 steel pipe is a nickel-based superalloy product (also known as Inconel 718 or N07718) renowned for its exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature performance, particularly at temperatures up to 650°C (1200°F). It is not typically classified as a traditional "die steel" (such as H13 tool steel) but rather as a specialty material used in demanding aerospace, nuclear, and petrochemical industries.

What are the uses of GH4169 alloy?
Applications: GH4169 is widely used in the aerospace industry, such as in aircraft engine components, turbine disks, and rocket engines. It is also used in equipment in the oil and gas industry, including valves, wellhead components, and downhole tools.

Manufacturing and Processing
Production: Typically employs a multi-step process, including vacuum induction melting (VIM) and vacuum arc remelting (VAR) to ensure purity, followed by hot working processes such as extrusion.
Hot Extrusion: This process involves extruding steel billets through a die at high temperatures (optimal temperature approximately 1040-1050°C) to form tubes.
Heat Treatment: This is the crucial step in achieving high hardness. The material must undergo a complete aging treatment after initial processing (usually a two-step process, e.g., holding at 720°C for 8 hours, then at 620°C for 8 hours) to ensure sufficient precipitation strengthening and ultimately achieve high strength properties.
Application Areas
GH4169 piping, with its unique performance combination, is ideal for critical, high-stress applications, including: Aerospace: Gas turbine and aircraft engine components (discs, blades, shafts, housings).
Energy: Nuclear power systems and heat exchangers.
Oil & Gas/Petrochemical: Oil well piping and processing equipment in corrosive environments.
