Difference between Inconel 718 strip and Inconel X-750 strip

Both Inconel 718 and Inconel X-750 are high-strength nickel-based superalloys, but 718 offers better weldability and superior corrosion resistance and creep resistance, making it ideal for aerospace and demanding applications. X-750 is optimized for high-temperature environments, maintaining high strength and oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 700°C (1290°F), and is commonly used in power generation, springs, and fastener manufacturing. The main difference lies in the presence of molybdenum in 718 (while X-750 does not). 718 exhibits higher strength at high temperatures, while X-750 can be hardened through cold working or heat treatment.

Is Inconel X-750 magnetic?

This material has excellent relaxation resistance and is non-magnetic. It has a high-temperature strength of up to 1300ºF (700°C) and oxidation resistance up to 1800ºF (983˚C). Inconel® X-750 resists corrosion from a variety of industrial corrosives under both oxidizing and reducing conditions.

What is Inconel 718 Alloy Strip?

Inconel 718 alloy strip is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium alloy strip with an operating temperature range of -423°F to 1300°F.

This age-hardening alloy strip is easy to machine, even for complex finished parts. It exhibits excellent weldability, particularly resistance to post-weld cracking.

Inconel 718 strip is cut from a master coil.

At Gnee Steel, our team can provide round-edge Inconel 718 strip to meet your specific needs.

What is Inconel X-750 Alloy Strip?

Inconel X-750 alloy strip is a precipitation-hardening nickel-chromium alloy strip, highly favored for its excellent corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and ability to maintain high strength at temperatures up to 1300°F (700°C).

Inconel X-750 alloy strip, also known as Inconel X-750 narrow coil or Inconel X-750 alloy strip, is a narrow and long nickel alloy sheet.

Inconel X-750 alloy strip exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and fatigue resistance, while also possessing good flexibility.

Corrosion Resistance

Inconel 718 steel strip has a higher chromium content than Inconel X-750 steel strip.

Therefore, Inconel 718 exhibits stronger oxidation resistance compared to Inconel X-750.

Furthermore, Alloy 718 contains molybdenum, while Alloy X-750 does not. The addition of molybdenum enhances the reduction corrosion resistance of Inconel 718.

Therefore, Inconel 718 steel strip is superior to Inconel X-750 steel strip in all aspects of corrosion resistance.
