Product Introduction

INCONEL® Alloy 725 (UNS N07725) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium alloy that is highly corrosion-resistant, age-hardenable and extremely strong. Its corrosion resistance is virtually identical to that of INCONEL Alloy 625, which is used in a wide variety of severely corrosive environments. Age-hardened INCONEL Alloy 725 is twice as strong as annealed Alloy 625. Because the strength of alloy 725 is developed through heat treatment rather than cold working, ductility and toughness remain high. In addition, strength can be obtained from large or uneven sections that cannot be strengthened by cold working.

Corrosion resistance

The high content of nickel, chromium and molybdenum makes INCONEL alloy 725 resistant to a wide range of corrosive environments. The alloy is particularly resistant to media containing carbon dioxide, chlorides and hydrogen sulfide, such as those encountered in deep sour gas wells. In such environments, INCONEL Alloy 725 resists corrosion, pitting, hydrogen embrittlement and stress corrosion cracking.

INCONEL Alloy 725 is NACE MR0175 certified for use in sour gas wells INCONEL Alloy 725 has excellent resistance to general and localized corrosion in brine and seawater. Table 11 shows the results of crevice corrosion tests in seawater. These data indicate that Alloy 725 is superior to Alloy 625 in resistance to crevice corrosion initiation.
