Product Introduction

UNS N06455 alloy pipe is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with outstanding high-temperature stability as evidenced by high ductility and corrosion resistance even after aging in the 1200 to 1900°F (649 to 1038°C) range. This alloy resists the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, thus making it suitable for most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition. UNS N06455 alloy also has excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking and to oxidizing atmospheres up to 1900°F (1038°C).

Fabrication and Welding Techniques

Machining – UNS N06455 has a low machinability rating. Care must be taken to prevent tool wear and premature failure.

Forming – It can be formed using standard techniques such as rolling, bending, and forging.

Welding – This alloy can be welded using a variety of techniques, including TIG, MIG, and SAW welding.

Heat Treatment – They are typically annealed at temperatures ranging from 1038°C to 1149°C (1900°F to 2100°F) to relieve stress and restore ductility.

Cutting – UNS N06455 can be cut using conventional cutting tools, but the use of carbide or high-speed steel tools is recommended for best results. Waterjet cutting is another option.
