Super Duplex 2507 stainless steel, a 50/50 mixture of austenite and ferrite, is stronger than pure austenitic or ferrous alloys. This steel has high tensile and impact strength and is extremely corrosion-resistant due to its chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content. We can provide customers with various stock shapes: round, square, seamless tube or welded tube. 2507 Super Duplex is very resistant to chloride pitting, stress, crevice and general corrosion. It tolerates organic and inorganic acids well. All these elastic properties make it very useful in harsh environments and is commonly used in chemical and petrochemical engineering, paper facilities and marine environments. Duplex steel 2507 has high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion, allowing use in heat exchangers and water heaters, but long-term exposure to temperatures approaching or exceeding 600°F will result in a loss of strength. Finally, 2507 is stronger than more nickel-based alloys, allowing less material to do a similar job, saving cost and weight. It is easier to machine and weld than pure austenitic alloys.
