ASTM B777 Class 3 Tungsten Plate
ASTM B777 "Standard Specification for Tungsten-Based High-Density Metals" and AMS 7725 "Sintered High-Density Tungsten Alloys" both define Class 4 tungsten alloys containing nominally 90 to 97 weight percent (wt%) tungsten (W). These four types of materials are pressed, sintered, and in some cases annealed to form.
Classes 1-3 are usually divided into non-magnetic and magnetic components, while Class 4 usually only offers magnetic components. In addition to ASTM, Elmet offers a "modified Class 2" composition that is 93% tungsten (W) by weight (wt%) and has some enhanced properties for certain defense applications.
