In chemical processes (can be use in oxidizing media, alkaline media, organic acids and compounds, aqueous salt solutions and hot gases);offshore industries (is fully resistant to corrosion in seawater at temperatures up to 300°C); in aircraft construction where a certain strength level and ease of formability is desired; in heat exchangers, hypochlorite systems, fire water systems, ballast water system, pumps and cryogenic vessels.

Industrial pure titanium is divided into three grades: TA1, TA2 and TA3 according to impurity content. The interstitial impurity elements of these three types of industrial pure titanium gradually increase, so their mechanical strength and hardness also gradually increase, but the plasticity and toughness decrease accordingly.

 

The industrially pure titanium commonly used in industry is TA2 because of its moderate corrosion resistance and comprehensive mechanical properties. TA3 can be used in situations with high wear and strength requirements. Better molding performance can be obtained by using TA1.

 

TA1, TA2, and TA3 in the national standard correspond to Gr0, Gr1, and Gr2 in this UNS respectively.

 

When the iron content ω is 0.095%, the oxygen content ω is 0.08%, the hydrogen content ω is 0.009%, and the nitrogen content ω is 0.0062%, TA1 and TA2 have good low-temperature toughness and high low-temperature strength. Low temperature structural materials below -253℃.
