What is GH4738?

GH4738 is a high-temperature alloy mainly used in the manufacturing of components in high-temperature environments such as aerospace engines.

The alloy is a Ni-Cr-Co precipitation hardening deformed high-temperature alloy with a service temperature of up to 815°C. Its chemical composition includes carbon, silicon, manganese, chromium, nickel, aluminum, molybdenum, iron, sulfur, phosphorus, titanium, copper, zirconium and boron. The addition of these elements gives GH4738 the ability to solid solution strengthen and form the γ' phase (a strengthening phase). At the same time, the grain boundaries are purified and strengthened by adding boron and zirconium elements.

In addition, GH4738 exhibits high yield strength and fatigue resistance in the temperature range of 760℃~870℃. In gas turbine atmospheres below 870°C, it exhibits good oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. This makes it ideal for parts such as turbine disks, working blades, high-temperature fasteners, flame tubes, shafts and turbine casings. The main product forms include cold-rolled strips and hot-rolled plates, pipes, strips, wires, forgings and bolt fasteners, etc.

To sum up, GH4738 is an age-hardening high-temperature alloy that is commonly used in aerospace engine rotating parts and other fields. It exhibits excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, especially in high-temperature environments.
