What is 16Mo3?
16Mo3 is a low alloy steel plate specially used to manufacture boiler and pressure vessel components in high temperature and high pressure environments.
16Mo3 steel plate is known for its excellent heat resistance and pressure resistance and is suitable for environments with operating temperatures up to approximately 530 degrees Celsius. The material is named after its chemical composition, which contains approximately 0.16% carbon (C) and approximately 0.3% molybdenum (Mo). The ratio of these elements gives 16Mo3 steel the mechanical strength and toughness required in high-temperature applications.
In practical applications, 16Mo3 steel plates are usually heat treated by normalizing or normalizing and tempering to obtain the best material properties. Compared with other materials of steel, 16Mo3 requires special attention when welding. It must be preheated first, and after the welding is completed, the weld should be kept warm for a period of time to ensure the quality of the weld and the mechanical properties of the material.
In addition, the foreign standard of 16Mo3 steel is EN10028/EN10222-2 2017, while similar materials made in China correspond to the domestic grade 12Cr1MoV. This shows that 16Mo3 steel plate is widely used and recognized internationally and is an important material for manufacturing key industrial equipment.
