Performance, Application And Processing Methods Of Inconel 625

Performance, Application and Processing Methods of Inconel 625

Introduction to Inconel 625 Alloy
Features: Excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature strength and oxidation resistance, suitable for a variety of harsh environments
Applications: Automobile, aerospace, oil and gas, chemical processing, marine engineering and nuclear reactors, etc.
Main Applications
Automobile: Used in heat exchangers, exhaust systems and quick-connect fittings, which require high corrosion resistance
Aerospace: Used in parts such as bellows, expansion joints, fasteners, etc., which require strength and durability at high temperatures
Oil and gas: Valued for its excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, suitable for harsh offshore environments
Chemical processing: Provides excellent corrosion resistance even in acidic media, ideal for pollution control equipment

Performance, Application and Processing Methods of Inconel 625Performance, Application and Processing Methods of Inconel 625

Marine Engineering: Performs well in seawater and other corrosive marine environments

Nuclear Industry: Commonly used in reactors and nuclear power plants, where high temperature stability and corrosion resistance are critical

Corrosion Resistance

Corrosion Resistance in Mild Environments: Virtually unaffected by freshwater, seawater, neutral pH environments, and alkaline media

High Chromium Content: Provides excellent resistance to oxidizing environments

High Molybdenum Content: Highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion

Processing and Heat Treatment

Processing: Can be formed using a variety of cold and hot working processes. Although it resists deformation at high temperatures, higher loads are required to form the material. Hot forming should be performed in the temperature range of 1700°F to 2150°F, and the material will work harden faster when cold worked than traditional austenitic stainless steels

Heat Treatment: There are three heat treatment options, including solution annealing, annealing, and stress relieving. Solution annealed (Grade 2) material is often used in applications above 1500°F where creep resistance is important, while soft annealed material (Grade 1) is often used at lower temperatures and has the best combination of tensile and rupture properties.
