application

Mainly used for applications requiring excellent corrosion and strong magnetism

Components such as: leads, battery components, sensors, spark electrodes and heat exchangers

describe

Alloy 201 is a commercially pure nickel with ≤0.02% carbon content. The alloy has highly ductile mechanical properties over a wide temperature range. It provides corrosion resistance in neutral to moderately reducing environments. Nickel 201 is ferromagnetic. It has high thermal and electrical conductivity compared to nickel-based alloys, stainless steel and low alloy steel. Due to its low carbon content (≤0.02%), Nickel 201 may be considered for use at temperatures above 600°F (316°C), where the higher carbon content of Alloy 200 is not recommended.

Corrosion resistance

Nickel 201 is mainly used in reducing or neutral environments. It can also be used in oxidizing environments that lead to the formation of passive films. The alloy's nickel content makes it virtually immune to chloride stress corrosion cracking. It can also be used for fresh and many other process waters. Sulfur atmosphere is corrosive to nickel alloys.

heat treatment

Nickel 201 is not hardenable by heat treatment.
