Is Inconel 718 a nickel alloy?
Nickel 718 (UNS# N07718) or Inconel 718 is a precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium alloy containing molybdenum, iron, niobium, and small amounts of aluminum and titanium. Designed to exhibit significant yield strength, high strength, good ductility, and creep rupture properties up to 1300°F (704°C).

These properties provide Alloy 718 with good formability, weldability and low temperature margin compared to other nickel-based superalloys. The slow age-hardening properties of Alloy 718 also allow annealing and welding without spontaneous hardening during heating and cooling. The alloy is also non-magnetic and has significant resistance to corrosion and oxidation, making it useful in applications such as jet engines, airframe components and high-temperature bolts and fasteners.
