Standard: AMS 5662

1. What are the primary applications of these nickel-based alloys?

Answer: These alloys are widely used in chemical processing, petrochemical, marine, and power generation industries. Applications include heat exchangers, chemical reactors, condenser tubes, piping systems, and environments with high corrosion, chloride, or high-temperature exposure.

2. What are the main differences between these alloys?

Answer:

Hastelloy C276/C22: Excellent resistance to oxidizing and reducing acids, including chloride-containing media.

Monel 400/K500: High strength and corrosion resistance, particularly in seawater and marine environments; K500 is precipitation-hardened for higher strength.

Incoloy 800/800H/825: Excellent high-temperature strength (800/800H) and corrosion resistance (825) in industrial and chemical environments.

3. What standards and sizes are available?

Answer:

Manufactured according to AMS 5662 or equivalent standards.

Tubes and pipes can be customized in various outer diameters, wall thicknesses, and lengths.

Sheet, plate, and U-bending tubes are also available upon request.

4. How is the quality of these alloy products ensured?

Answer:

Chemical analysis to ensure alloy composition meets specifications.

Mechanical testing: Tensile, hardness, and elongation tests.

Non-destructive testing (NDT): Ultrasonic, eddy current, and dye penetrant testing to detect surface and internal defects.

Corrosion testing in relevant media for verification of performance.

5. What are the recommended operating conditions for these alloys?

Answer:

Temperature: Incoloy 800/800H up to 1100°F (593°C); Alloy 825 up to 1500°F (815°C); Hastelloy C276/C22 for high-temperature chemical environments; Monel 400/K500 in moderate to high-temperature marine environments.

Pressure: Depends on pipe/tube dimensions and engineering standards (ASME/ASTM). Proper design calculations are recommended for critical applications.
