Alloy 400/400AR
Sandmeyer Steel Company stocks Alloy 400 in the annealed condition in thicknesses from 3/16" (4.8mm) to 3" (76.2mm). Alloy 400 exhibits moderate strength in the annealed condition. The alloy is also available in the as-rolled condition (Alloy 400AR), which gives the alloy greater strength. Alloy 400AR is available in stock thicknesses from 0.1875" to 3.00".
Alloy 400 (UNS N04400) is a ductile nickel-copper alloy resistant to a wide range of corrosive conditions. This alloy is most commonly used in environments ranging from mildly oxidizing to neutral to moderately reducing conditions. Another area of application for this material is in marine environments and other non-oxidizing chloride solutions.
General characteristics
Alloy 400 (UNS N04400) is a nickel-copper alloy with excellent resistance to a variety of corrosive environments. It resists chloride stress corrosion cracking and provides high strength and toughness over a wide temperature range.
This alloy is widely used in many corrosive applications, particularly in the marine and chemical processing industries. Alloy 400 is easily manufactured through conventional machining operations.
Alloy 400AR is produced in the as-rolled condition to meet higher strength requirements
