Alloy R-405 is used in the same industries as Alloy 400. Both alloys are widely used in chemical processing, pollution control and marine industries. This enhanced processing version of Alloy 400 is designed for processing using automated equipment. Applications include screw machine products, water meter and valve seat assemblies, pipe fittings and fasteners.

404 R-405 Monel alloy Piping
Monel 404 alloy (UNS N04404) is a nickel-based alloy similar to Monel 400 with very low Curie temperature, very low magnetic properties and good brazing properties.
Monel 400 alloy is a single-phase solid solution Ni-Cu alloy that has good corrosion resistance in many media environments. It has good corrosion resistance from slightly oxidizing media environment to neutral environment to suitable reducing environment.
R405 alloy is a high-sulfur, low-carbon copper-nickel alloy, also known as alloy R405. It is composed of about 63% nickel and about 30% copper, with the remainder being elements such as iron, sulfur and carbon. R405 alloy has good corrosion resistance, especially against harmful substances such as salt water and hydrogen sulfide. In addition, it has good machinability, wear resistance and heat treatment properties. R405 alloy is commonly used in the manufacture of equipment and components in chemical processing, marine engineering, oil and gas extraction and other fields, such as pumps, cylinder liners, valves, bellows, control rods and goal shafts.
