What is the difference between incoloy 825 Pipe and Inconel 600 Pipe?

Incoloy 825 pipe is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with a lower nickel content than Inconel 600 pipe, which is a nickel-chromium alloy. This composition difference results in differences in corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and cost. Incoloy 825 pipe is particularly known for its resistance to oxidizing, reducing acids, and stress corrosion cracking, while Inconel 600 alloy pipe excels in resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking and performs well in high temperature applications.

What are the properties of 825 alloy pipe?

Incoloy 825 has a characteristic density of 8.14 g/cm3, 0.294 lb/in3, a tensile strength of at least 586 MPa (85 kpsi), and a yield strength of at least 241 MPa (35 kpsi). It has excellent resistance to reducing and oxidizing acids, stress corrosion cracking, and localized corrosion such as pitting and crevice corrosion.

What is the difference between 625 and 825?

Inconel 625 is often used in sour gas service due to its good resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting, while Inconel 825 is often used in crude oil service due to its good corrosion resistance in sour environments.

What is Inconel 600 used for?

The alloy's strength at high temperatures and oxidation resistance make it widely used in the heat treating industry. It is used to make reactors, muffle furnaces, roller hearth furnaces and other furnace components, as well as heat treating baskets and trays.

Inconel 600 pipes

At high temperatures, Inconel 600 pipe forms a thick, stable oxide layer that protects its outer surface from thermal creep. This makes it ideal for high-temperature, high-pressure applications where aluminum and steel are susceptible to thermal creep. Inconel 600 pipe is available in a variety of grades with slightly different chemical properties and excellent flow properties.

Basic applications for Inconel 600 pipe include heat-treated components and the food industry. When alloyed with other components, it is more suitable for demanding applications such as aerospace, chemical and marine due to its higher strength. Due to its superior overall performance, Inconel 600 pipe is the material of choice for demanding environments such as rocket engines, turbine blades and key components in the nuclear industry.

Incoloy 825 pipes

Incoloy 825 pipe is relatively inexpensive and has a high iron content, making it a premium product even in critical temperature but milder applications. Another feature of Incoloy is its ease of fabrication, which can be accomplished using the same processes and equipment as stainless steel. Available in a wide range of sizes and grades, Incoloy's main strength is corrosion resistance, especially in aqueous environments. The basic version of Incoloy will seek wide versatility. It is alloyed with modified elements that make it resistant to chemical and atmospheric corrosion, and even to physical corrosion such as cracking and surface pitting.

It is also particularly suitable for salt water, high chloride, seawater and sour gas environments. This makes it a popular choice for the gas and oil industries. However, the most specialized and ideal Incoloy alloys are widely used in a variety of harsh chemical environments, including scrubbing, nuclear fuel, acid, moisture and the reaction environment of furnaces.
