What is 625 material grade?
Alloy 625 is a popular nickel-chromium alloy that offers users high strength and ease of fabrication. It is known for several unique properties, including:
Strength due to the addition of molybdenum and niobium
Excellent thermal fatigue strength
Resists oxidation and many corrosive elements
Easy to join with a variety of welds
Handles a wide range of temperatures from cryogenic to 1800°F (982°C)

Due to its versatility, alloy 625 is used in many industries, including nuclear power production, marine/boating/subsea, and aerospace. Within these key industries, you can find Nickel Alloy 625 and Inconel 625 in a variety of applications, including:
Nuclear reactor core and control rod components
Wire rope for cables and blades on naval vessels such as gunboats and submarines
Marine equipment
Rings and tubes for environmental control systems
ASME code compliance for boilers and pressure vessels
To be considered Alloy 625, the alloy must have a certain chemical composition, including:
Ni 58% minimum
Cr 20-23%
Fe 5% maximum
Mo 8-10%
Nb 3.15-4.15%
Co 1% maximum
Si .50 maximum
P and S 0.15% maximum
