What are the differences between Inconel 783 and 718 alloys?

Both Inconel 783 and 718 are nickel-based superalloys, but 783 is specifically designed for certain turbine applications. Due to its higher aluminum content, it has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and better oxidation resistance. This makes it less dense, about 5% lighter than Inconel 718.

How to weld Inconel 718?

Inconel 718 can be welded in either the annealed or precipitation-hardened state. For many non-aerospace applications, the only heat treatment required after welding is aging at 1325/1150°F (700/570°C) to enhance the strength of the weld and the base material near the fusion line.
