Vacuum induction melting (VIM) of Inconel 713C (UNS NO7713) cast round bars is a premium manufacturing process designed to produce high-purity nickel-chromium-based superalloys with excellent high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and thermal fatigue resistance, primarily used in gas turbine engines. VIM allows for effective control of the content of active elements (Al, Ti), ensuring the alloy maintains high performance at temperatures up to 1700°F (927°C).

What is the melting point of Inconel 713?

Differential scanning calorimetry (DTA) results show that at a heating rate of 10°C/min, the initial melting point occurs at 1270°C, and the γ phase forms at 1335°C during cooling. Therefore, the solidification temperature range of Inconel 713C is approximately 65°C.

Melting Atmosphere: Vacuum level typically reaches ~10⁻³ Torr (up to 10⁻² mbar) to remove dissolved gases (oxygen, nitrogen).

Melting Temperature: 1300-1750°C.

Solidation Temperature Range: Initial melting temperature is approximately 1270°C, γ phase forms at 1335°C, therefore the solidification temperature range is narrow, approximately 65°C.

Contamination Control: The VIM process limits oxygen content to below 20 ppm, nitrogen content to below 10 ppm, and active element content to ±0.05-0.12%.
