Regarding the available forms and specifications of Inconel 600

Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium alloy available in various forms, including tubing, seamless/welded pipe, plate, bar, coil, and forgings. It offers excellent high-temperature strength (up to 2000°F) and low-temperature properties, and is immune to chloride stress corrosion cracking. Its main specifications conform to ASTM/ASME standards (B163, B167, B168, etc.). Typical properties include moderate yield strength in the annealed condition (37 ksi at room temperature), significantly increased yield strength after cold working, and good corrosion resistance in oxidizing/reducing environments.

What are the ASTM standards for Inconel 600 pipes?

These pipes conform to ASTM B167, B829, and B517 standards. The pipes are available in various sizes according to ASTM, ASME, and API standards. The size range for Inconel 600 pipes is as follows: seamless pipes have an outer diameter of 4 mm to 219 mm, and welded and electric fusion welded pipes have an outer diameter of 5 mm to 1219.2 mm, with a wall thickness ranging from 0.5 mm to 20 mm.

The chemical composition of Inconel alloy 600. The high nickel content enables this alloy to resist corrosion from a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds and makes it virtually immune to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking.

Chromium provides the alloy with resistance to sulfide corrosion and gives it oxidation resistance at high temperatures or in corrosive solutions. The alloy is not precipitation hardenable; it can only be hardened and strengthened by cold working.
