Nickel-based high-temperature alloy - Characteristics and uses of Inconel625
Overview
Inconel 625 is a nickel-based high-temperature alloy, mainly composed of elements such as nickel, chromium, molybdenum and niobium. Due to its excellent high-temperature strength, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, Inconel 625 has been widely used in aerospace, petrochemical, nuclear industry and other fields.
Composition and organization
The chemical composition of Inconel 625 is mainly composed of elements such as nickel, chromium, molybdenum and niobium, among which nickel accounts for the main proportion, about 58-63%. The niobium element in the alloy can enhance the strength and toughness of the base metal, while the molybdenum element helps to improve the corrosion resistance. In terms of organizational structure, Inconel 625 has a face-centered cubic lattice structure, which gives it good work hardening and high-temperature strength.

Characteristics and uses
1. High-temperature strength: Inconel 625 has excellent high-temperature strength and can maintain high yield strength and creep strength in high-temperature environments. Therefore, it is widely used in the manufacture of high-temperature components such as aircraft engines and gas turbines.
2. Corrosion resistance: Inconel 625 has good corrosion resistance, especially in both oxidizing and reducing media. This makes it widely used in petrochemical, nuclear industry and other fields.
3. Processing performance: Inconel 625 has excellent processing performance and can be processed by conventional welding, machining and other processes. In addition, it has good plasticity and toughness and can be formed in cold and hot states.
4. Application field: Due to its excellent comprehensive performance, Inconel 625 has been widely used in aerospace, petrochemical, nuclear industry and other fields. It can be used to manufacture high-temperature components, pressure vessels, reactor components, fasteners, pipes and other products.
Processing and welding
Inconel 625 has excellent processing performance and can be processed by conventional welding, machining and other processes. In terms of welding, Inconel 625 can be welded by a variety of welding methods such as tungsten inert gas welding and consumable inert gas welding. In order to ensure the quality of welding, preheating should be carried out before welding, and appropriate filler materials and welding parameters should be selected. In terms of machining, Inconel 625 can be cut with carbide tools, and appropriate cutting parameters should be selected to avoid defects such as cracks.
Heat treatment and surface treatment
The heat treatment of Inconel 625 has an important influence on its performance. Generally, Inconel 625 needs to be solution treated and aging treated. Solution treatment can make its structure more uniform, improve its plasticity and toughness; while aging treatment can improve its hardness and strength. In addition, in order to improve the corrosion resistance of Inconel 625, surface treatment methods such as surface coating or aluminizing can be used.
As a high-performance nickel-based high-temperature alloy, Inconel 625 has a wide range of application prospects. Understanding its composition, structure, characteristics, processing and welding knowledge is of great significance to give full play to its performance advantages and improve product quality.
