Therefore, they are ideally suited for demanding applications requiring high durability, corrosion resistance, and structural integrity at extreme temperatures, such as furnaces, heat exchangers, aerospace components, and chemical processing equipment. These tubes exhibit good ductility, machinability, and weldability, and form a stable oxide layer that prevents spalling, ensuring a long service life even in harsh environments.
What are the ASTM standards for Inconel 600 pipes?
These pipes conform to ASTM B167, B829, and B517 standards. The pipes are available in various sizes according to ASTM, ASME, and API standards. Inconel 600 seamless pipes have a diameter range of 4 mm to 219 mm, while welded and electric fusion welded pipes have a diameter range of 5 mm to 1219.2 mm, with wall thicknesses ranging from 0.5 mm to 20 mm.
Inconel 600 is a commonly used engineering alloy, whose chemical composition is designed to withstand heat and corrosion in various applications. ASTM B167 UNS N06600 seamless tubes exhibit excellent mechanical properties. Its unique chemical composition gives the alloy high mechanical strength and good workability. Due to its superior corrosion resistance, nickel alloy SB 167 UNS N06600 piping is primarily used in alkaline environments.
As a high-nickel alloy, this piping is well-suited for both low-temperature and high-temperature applications. A unique feature of ASTM B167 seamless tubes is their ability to resist corrosion in environments containing highly corrosive compounds such as dry chlorine or hydrogen chloride. In fact, ASTM B167 seamless tubes can withstand these compounds at temperatures up to 650°C. Chloride stress corrosion cracking is a difficult problem for many stainless steel alloys, ultimately leading to damage to piping systems. However, unlike stainless steel, this problem can be overcome by using nickel alloy SB 167 piping due to its excellent corrosion resistance. The high nickel content in the alloy used to produce Inconel 600 piping makes it resistant to reducing environments. On the other hand, the chromium content in the ASTM B167 seamless tube material provides good corrosion resistance under weakly oxidizing conditions.
