Inconel 600 plate is a nickel-chromium-iron based solid solution strengthening alloy. The careful blending of its composition ratio is the basis for its excellent performance. The nickel (Ni) content is between 72.0% and 78.0%. As the main component, nickel gives the plate excellent corrosion resistance and toughness, making it stable even in complex chemical environments. The chromium (Cr) content is 14.0% to 17.0%. The addition of chromium enhances the plate's antioxidant capacity. Under high temperature conditions, chromium can promote the formation of a dense chromium oxide protective film on the surface, effectively preventing further oxidation. The iron (Fe) content is between 6.0% and 10.0%, providing basic strength support for the plate. In addition, there is a small amount of manganese (Mn) ≤1.0%, silicon (Si) ≤0.5%, carbon (C) ≤0.15%, sulfur (S) ≤0.015% and a trace amount of phosphorus (P) ≤0.015%.  2. Excellent performance
High temperature resistance: Inconel 600 plate is a leader in high temperature resistance. Its melting point is 1354-1413℃, which means that it can maintain structural stability at extremely high temperatures and will not melt or deform easily. In practical applications, its allowable temperature can reach 1093℃ (2000°F), and it can maintain good mechanical properties even in high temperature environments for a long time. For example, in the internal structural parts of high-temperature furnaces, it can withstand the continuous test of high temperature to ensure stable operation of the equipment.

 

Corrosion resistance: Thanks to the high nickel content, Inconel 600 plate shows strong resistance to stress corrosion cracking under aqueous corrosion conditions.  4. Rigorous production process
Melting process: The production of Inconel 600 plates starts with smelting, using high-purity nickel, chromium, iron, etc. as basic raw materials. The smelting process usually uses an arc furnace or a vacuum induction furnace (VIM). In arc furnace smelting, the high temperature generated by the arc is used to quickly melt the metal raw materials. By precisely controlling the current and voltage, the smelting temperature is controlled in a suitable range, generally 1500-1600℃, so that various elements can be fully integrated. Vacuum induction furnace smelting is carried out in a vacuum environment to avoid the reaction of the alloy with oxygen, nitrogen and other gases in the air and reduce the introduction of impurities. During the smelting process, various trace elements are accurately added, and the elements are evenly distributed by stirring. After the smelting is completed, refining and degassing are carried out to further remove harmful gases and impurities and improve the purity and quality of the alloy.

The smelted alloy billet is heated to a suitable temperature, generally 1000-1200℃, and rolled on a hot rolling mill through multiple passes to gradually deform it into the required plate thickness and size. For plates with high dimensional accuracy and good surface quality, cold rolling process can be used. Before cold rolling, hot rolled plates are usually annealed to reduce hardness and improve plasticity. The cold rolling process is carried out at room temperature, and the plates are made to achieve the required dimensional accuracy and surface quality through multiple cold rolling. In addition, forging process can also be used to manufacture some plate parts with special shapes and high performance requirements. Heat treatment process: In order to further optimize the performance of Inconel 600 plates, heat treatment is usually required. It mainly includes solution treatment and aging treatment. During solution treatment, the plate is heated to 1010-1150℃ and kept at this temperature for a certain time, generally 1-3 hours, so that the solute elements in the alloy are fully dissolved into the matrix. Then it is cooled rapidly, usually by water cooling or air cooling, to obtain a uniform single-phase solid solution structure and improve the strength and plasticity of the plate. The aging treatment is carried out in the temperature range of 750-870℃, and the temperature is kept for a certain period of time, generally 3-6 hours. Through precipitation hardening, the second phase particles in the alloy are precipitated and evenly distributed in the matrix, thereby improving the hardness, strength and high temperature resistance of the plate. Reasonable heat treatment process can further improve the performance of Inconel 600 plate to meet the needs of different industrial applications.

 

Surface treatment process: In order to improve the corrosion resistance and aesthetics of Inconel 600 plate, surface treatment is sometimes required. Common surface treatment methods include passivation treatment, which forms a dense passivation film on the surface of the plate by immersing it in a specific passivation solution to further improve the corrosion resistance. There is also electroplating treatment, which can plate a layer of metal, such as nickel, chromium, etc., on the surface of the plate to improve the surface hardness and corrosion resistance, while improving the appearance.
