Commonly Used Welding Materials for 601 Inconel

Nickel-based filler metals matching Inconel 601
ERNiCrFe-14 (Inconel 601 filler)
Chemically compatible with Inconel 601.
Provides excellent high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance.
Ideal for joining Inconel 601 to itself or to other nickel-based alloys.
ERNiCr-3 (Inconel 82)
A widely used general-purpose nickel-chromium filler.
Offers good weldability and high-temperature performance.
Often used for joining Inconel 601 to stainless steels or other nickel alloys where a more flexible composition is needed.
ERNiCrFe-5 (Inconel 625)
Contains molybdenum and niobium, providing high strength and corrosion resistance.
Used when enhanced strength or resistance to aggressive environments is required.
Suitable for dissimilar metal welding involving Inconel 601.
For SMAW (stick electrodes)
ENiCrFe-14 (equivalent to Inconel 601)
ENiCr-3 (equivalent to Inconel 82)

Summary
Weldability: Inconel 601 is weldable using GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, and other processes, but requires low heat input, proper shielding, and surface cleaning to avoid grain growth and oxidation issues.
Common fillers: ERNiCrFe-14 (601), ERNiCr-3 (82), and ERNiCrFe-5 (625) are the most widely used welding consumables, depending on the application and joint requirements.
